USA STEM Itinerary

**Colorado is 9 hours behind Nairobi so students and staff will be able to call in the mornings before day activities begin. That will be around 4:00 to 5:00 pm in Kenya.

***Part of this experience is the travel to and from Kenya. Students will see a full range of other cultures and people from around the world as they travel through Paris and other Airports.

Day 1 :  Depart Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

• Depart 11:35 PM

• Need to arrive 3 hours before departure

• Each family is limited to one suit case, one carry-on and one personal item per person – there is a washing machine available to wash clothes mid-week.

 Day 2:  Arrive Denver, Colorado, USA

• Arrival in Denver, Colorado, USA to be greeted by a USA START Team member at baggage claim

• Airport shuttle to hotel

• Welcome meeting with room assignments

• Unpack, welcome pool party, and unwind time in the rooms

• Lodgings TBD: includes breakfast and a big indoor swimming pool.

 

 

 

 

Day 3:   NCAR and Rocky mountains

• Orientation team meeting in the morning

• Leave for NCAR National Center for Atmospheric Research

• Do all kinds of hands on experiments about our atmosphere and climate

• Go up in the mountains to see SNOW

 

 

Day 4:   Denver Aquarium

• Visit the Aquarium with students from the USA

• Explore Oceanography with hands on experiments.

• Pet a Stingray. Walk under water Afternoon fun with US families and Shopping

 

 

Day 5:  Colorado Museum of Nature and Science

• See IMAX and Planetarium

• Explore History, Science, and Technology at the world famous Denver Museum

 

 

 

 

Day 6:    Colorado Springs Cave of the Winds

• Go caving deep down into the mountain

• Rock Climb at Garden of the Gods

•  

Day 7:   Great Wolf Lodge

• Drive through the mountains to Great Wolf Lodge Water Park

• The Hotel has a water park with slides and fountains

• Rest and have fun as a group

 

 

Sunday Day 8: Church and  Shopping

• Morning Service

• Drive to Shopping Mall with huge slide and climbing

• Shop for family and friends

• Explore an Amazon Distribution Center with tons of robots

Tuesday Day 9: Pack and Prepare to Return to Kenya

• AM Team meetings

• Prepare to fly back to Kenya

• Depart Denver International Airport for return to Kenya

Wednesday Day 10:  Arrive back in Kenya

• Evening arrival in Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

• Picked up by parents after customs

• Head home for a well-deserved sleep
